ATEROVAX: advancing a cutting edge response to atherosclerosis

About ATEROVAX

ATEROVAX is an in vitro diagnostic (IVD) company located in Paris, France, focusing on the development of innovative patent-protected in vitro diagnostic products for improving management of cardiovascular diseases.

The mission of ATEROVAX is to help reduce the number of cardiovascular events by providing physicians with powerful diagnostic tools that will enable them to take preventive measures before it is too late.

In the cardiovascular disease area, atherosclerosis is a major concern. It is a common and complex disease of the arteries responsible for many causes of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, unstable or stable angina, stroke and leg ischemia. The understanding of atherosclerosis has undergone a revolution in the past decade. Originally thought as "a cholesterol-fuelled, plumbing problem", atherosclerosis is now understood as a chronic immune inflammatory disease. This shift has prompted search for new biomarkers of inflammation that predict the risk of cardiovascular events.

This paradigm shift points to the need for new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. From this major step forward knowledge, ATEROVAX is dedicated to pioneering innovative in vitro diagnostic products for cardiovascular risk assessment.

ATEROVAX products are cutting-edge responses to this shift of paradigm. ATEROVAX’s ambition is to establish itself as a leading R&D player regarding inflammation and atherosclerosis.

About AteroDX Activity®

ATEROVAX has been able to validate in a very short time a potent biomarker of the vulnerable or destabilized plaque, the sPLA2 activity. Based on its knowledge of this biomarker, ATEROVAX has completed the development of its first product, AteroDX Activity®, already commercialized for research and clinical development use and CE marked, allowing to start sales in the large European IVD laboratory installed market as early as 2011.
